Job architecture

Modern job architecture, structured for fair compensation.

Your job architecture is a map of the roles in your organisation, organised into functions, job families and disciplines. Define the career levels and career paths your company should offer.

Step 1

Start from what you already have.

Bring your job catalogue from your HRIS export or an Excel spreadsheet. Or start directly in Staffatlas. If all you have is a list of job titles, you can start with that too.

  • Flexible import from CSV files or HRIS systems
  • Every change is saved and stays traceable
  • Step by step to a transparent job architecture

Step 2

Group jobs into a hierarchy that works for you.

You can define up to three levels: functions, job families and disciplines. Staffatlas adapts to your structure and your terminology. Browse the architecture, drag jobs where they belong, or let StaffAI™ suggest the missing parts and file the unassigned jobs into the right group.

  • Simple navigation that keeps you oriented
  • AI makes suggestions, you make the decision
  • Use your own terminology

Step 3

Add the level system that cuts across everything.

Levels are the second axis of the architecture: they apply across all jobs. If you already have established career levels or grades, you can import them. If you do not have any yet, simply skip this step.

  • Import your existing level framework or design a new one
  • A job can have several job levels, e.g. Junior, Advanced, Senior or Lead
  • You can also carry on without career levels

Step 4

Dual career paths for expert and management careers.

If you want to support different career paths, for example to separate subject-matter leadership from people management, use this setting.

  • Specialist and management tracks side by side
  • Adapt the defaults to your organisation
  • Colour coding gives you a quick overview of your matrix organisation

Step 5

Objective job descriptions that stay current.

Job descriptions explain what matters for the job at each career level. Keeping every description up to date is a challenge, and the StaffAI model helps you with it. Create a draft and have colleagues review and approve it. The descriptions later feed the objective job evaluation you need for pay transparency.

  • Describe the different requirements and tasks of each job
  • Explain the differences between career levels
  • Write a draft and publish it when you are happy with it
  • AI helps you keep the texts up to date

The payoff

The whole architecture at a glance.

The matrix view keeps you oriented: all jobs, groups, career paths and career levels at a glance. Now you are ready to evaluate your jobs.

  • All jobs and job levels in one view
  • Filter by group, level or track
  • The complete job architecture at a glance
  • Jump from any cell straight into the details
